Guys and Dolls Tickets- Bierko and Grant Cast as Leads

The wait is almost over. One of stage's favorite musicals, Guys and Dolls, will be coming back to Broadway in 2009 and the lead roles have recently been announced. Craig Bierko will by playing Sky and Kate Jennings Grant will take the role of Sarah. The show will start previews on February 2, 2009 and will officially open on March 1. Guys and Dolls also gets a great location as it will appear at the Nederlander Theatre, which was recently refurbished. Guys and Dolls first opened on Broadway on November 24, 1950, winning five Tony Awards in 1951. Bierko is a well-recognized actor in stage, television and film as he has been appearing in all three for years. He could be seen throughout the 1980s on guest spots for television shows like Our House, Eisenhower & Lutz, Newhart and Paradise. He continued his television roles throughout the early 1990s and soon started moving into movie roles by the middle of the decade, appearing in films like The Long Kiss Goodnight, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Sour Grapes and 'Til There Was You. He broke onto Broadway in a big way in 2000 when he appeared as Harold Hill in the Broadway revival of The Music Man. For his role in that show, he was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor. He also started gaining more momentum in television and film. He appeared in hit television shows like Sex and the City and Boston Legal. He also had a breakout role in 2005 as the boxer Max Baer in Cinderella Man with Russell Crowe. Other stage credits include Thou Shalt Not and Modern Orthodox.

Grant is a veteran of stage who is a graduate of both the University of Pennsylvania and the Julliard School of Drama. Her Broadway credits include Proof and An American Daughter. It was an Off-Broadway role in Marriage of Bette and Boo, however, that really got Grant noticed by a large audience. Other Off-Broadway performances include Radiant Baby and The Beard of Avon. Recently, Grant has appeared in the film adaptation of Frost/Nixon. Her television credits include JAG, Sex and the City, Law & Order and Cold Case. She has also been in movies like Kinsey and United 93.

Guys and Dolls is a story about the unlikely romance between a serial gambler named Sky Masterson and a mission worker named Sarah Brown. While the romance starts as a bet that Sky has made, but he soon realizes his true feelings for her. The musical is filled with songs that have grown to be famous on the stage like "I'll Know," "Marry the Man Today" and "Luck Be a Lady." It will be directed by Des McAnuff, a Tony Award winner who has also worked with The Who's Tommy and Jersey Boys. The rest of the casting for the show will be announced closer to the opening in February.
